A Note on Multiple Email Addresses on a Contact or Lead Record

If your Salesforce allows for a Contact or Lead record to have multiple email addresses, this can cause some confusion for Mailchimp which only allows for one email address per record.

Chimpegration can help with this.

Using the right email address field

When mapping an email address in a Mailchimp Data Update process or a Salesforce Data Update process, you will only be presented with one email address field to map to/from. With this in mind, you might need to consider ensuring the email address field you are going to use in Salesforce are consistent across your database. Some Users create a email address field in Salesforce called ‘Mailchimp Email Address’ and make sure all Chimpegration process point to this field.

Matching on the right email address

When seeking to find a match on an email address on a Salesforce Data Update or Activity Manager Process, Chimpegration will look in all your Salesforce email address fields. Not just the email address field you might have mapped to. It will not overwrite an email address field. For Example, if you have mapped to Email 1, but Chimpegration find the email address from Mailchimp in Email 2, it will not overwrite the value in Email 2 onto Email 1.

Multiple Mailchimp records for the same Salesforce Contact or Lead record

For a Mailchimp Data Update process, it use the email address you have mapped to in the process. If Chimpegration can not find the email address in Chimpegration, it will add a new record to Mailchimp. This could result in the same Contact or Lead in Salesforce having multiple records in Mailchimp. This is ok. If you wish to update a Salesforce Contact or Lead record that have multiple Mailchimp Records, we have providing you with the option to match on Contact or Lead ID in all of the processes.
